Past Week (Quick Update)

Author : markmccullough, Posted on: 01.04.2009

Sorry I have not posted anything since my original post. between poker and trying to have a social life I have not had alot of free time. I only have a quick 5 minuites to write this before I have to go and play football.

Quick Update,

Day 1

My BR started at $200 and I started playing the $10nl tables. My first session I played 4 tables (full ring) for just over 4 hours, for a total of just over 12k hands. At the end of this first session my BR stood at $435. A great result for my first session. I know in my first post that once I reached 20buy-ins ($400) I would move upto $20nl, but given that this was my first session, I was not too keen to move up limits untill I got a good handle on 2 thing\’s;

1 – The software

2- Typical player at these levels

So, even though I had the BR to move up limits I choose to stay at $10nl for a little while.

Day 2

My BR stood at $435. Again I went for the same set-up, 4 tables of $10nl. This time I only had time to play for a little over 90 minutes. And due to some bad outdraws (flopped nut\’s beaten by runner runner on numerous occasions) I was down by $30 this session.

BR standing at $430. I got home late in the evening and loaded up the poker client, again 4 tables of $10. This time I played from just after 10pm to roughly 3.45am. A long session. After the session MY BR was upto where it stands now at $570. Although this week I have only played 3 session, I have put almost 12 hours in. and played close to 50k hands at $10nl.

I am not going to be able to play the next few days due to personal commitments, but when I get back I intend to move up to the $20nl games and see how I do.

Quick note on $10nl game\’s;

To be totally honest, I have to admit that the standard of play at these levels (some may say to be expected) was rather poor. From the exception of maybe 20 or so \’regular\’ players (who were multi tabling) I found my self able to coast ever session. I had to start playing the 100buy-in tables bcs when I sat anywhere else I found my self playing against 6-7 players buying in for the minimum. Now I understand and some what recommend players to follow the Short Stack Strategy (SSS) as it does have it benifits. I have also read a great deal of articles and saw numerous videos detailing the SSS game play, But for my self who is playing the Big Stack Strategy (BSS) where I buy-in full every time, playing against SSS players is just not a good idea.

Again sorry I have not been able to update before this, and sorry if I have left anything out. i will post again on Friday when I am back.

Peace
